Some of the Principal Vendors

Specialist S&C Providers:
Newmarket has dominated this category in North America for years with its well-developed, richly functional range of Delphi and Breeze products, and reports strong recent interest in its Multi-Property Edition (see Fig.1). The arrival of a promising new vendor - Daylight's enterprise system (see Fig 2)- heralds increased competition for them at this high end of the market, which should stimulate both companies to develop their products even further. Other vendors aiming at slightly different segments of the market include CBORD's CaterMate, with a solid reputation in catering event-focused markets, a market also targeted successfully by Horizon's Cater-Ease, an effective system with particularly well-designed screens. Hodges Technology's ESP2000 range is aimed at small to mid-size lodging-oriented properties and conference centers, as is Aggressive Banqueting Concepts' (ABC) Event Master (see Fig.3), a fast and comprehensive system that recently gained an upgraded group sales module.

Integrated-System Vendors
Visual One has been seeing good, steady demand for its well-established, powerful and self-titled PMS/S&C/POS/Accounting system (see Fig.4, Fig.5). Fidelio, whose DOS-based S&C system met with considerable success internationally, will release S&C functionality early next year for Opera, its new Oracle-based PMS, and is also adding back office accounting and engineering/quality management modules. MSI is working on WinSAM modules for its new WinPMS application for a mid-2000 release, HSI is integrating ABC's Event Master system as the Cobra portion of its multi-functional PMS/CRS/POS suite, and Northwind is seeing increasing demand for its flexible PMS/S&C/Accounting product, also marketed by MCorp as its Maestro system.
